The R-matrix method is used to calculate the effect of resonance excitation on the electron ionisation of several ions of nickel. For Ni2+ the effect of resonance excitation is small but for Ni3+ the effect is quite large. Using these calculations together with earlier calculations on Ca+ and Ti3+ we draw some general conclusions on the importance of resonance excitation for electron impact ionisation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
