A number of British and American works of the 2000-2010s are devoted to the transformation of socialist ideas and crisis of collectivist values in the Soviet society after the Second World War. The objective of this article is to define the main trends of modern Anglophone historiography in studies of the dichotomy of consumerist ideals and socialist values in late Soviet society . The result of this study is an arrangement of general research approaches and an identifying of new thematic perspectives in Anglophone Russian Studies concerned with the Soviet period. Researchers consider the period from 1945 to 1990 as a comprehensive and logically complete period of Russian history. The internal unity of this period consists in the evolution of the Soviet way of life and socialist values. This process was incremental and hardly reflected by contemporaries (both within the Soviet state, and abroad). British and American works of the 2000-2010s filled a significant gap in world Russian Studies: the elements of capitalist culture, which coexisted in parallel with generally accepted Soviet way of life, were identified. A special contribution of modern Anglophone researches to Russian Studies is the analysis of socio-cultural processes, which were the evidence of the deformation of socialist norms and values. For instance, the occurrence of the sense of social injustice, greater recognition that a respected profession and a profitable occupation were divergent, is not sufficiently developed in Russian historical science.

Аналитика и контроль. 2019. Т. 23. № 3. in 0.01 M H 2 SO 4. The influence of the related compounds of the food matrix on the fluorimetric determination of quinine was studied. It has been established that the content of such components as sugar and citric acid in the soft drinks does not affect the luminescent signal of quinine. The detection limit of quinine was calculated, which amounted to 0.0019 mg/dm 3. In order to verify the correctness of the fluorimetric method, the results were compared with the spectrophotometric method (maximum absorption of quinine at 347 nm). The results obtained by the two methods were in good agreement, and the detection limit of the fluorimetric method was higher compared to the known works. The proposed technique could be used to control the quality and safety of the soft drinks.
Abstract. The most famous historical project of transport infrastructure in Siberia is the Ob-Yenisei Canal. It was implemented at the end of the 19th century, however it was considered a failure and closed. A continuing interest in the ɋanal's construction and the circumstances of its origin demonstrates the special place of the Ob-Yenisei Canal in Russian historical memory. One of the causes of the construction's failure was the decision to reduce the size of the Ob-Yenisei Canal in the final draft. The article is devoted to identifying the reasons that influenced the decision to change the Canal's size, which determined the lack of capacity. The results showed that engineers were not satisfied with the results of research and looked for opportunities of additional reconnaissance. A number of economic indicators was impossible to detect without carrying out construction work. The authors concluded that the engineers allowed cutting the volume of construction works at the first stage, which was not due to the economy. It was connected with the ambition to collect information on the cost of building, living conditions and scale of labor organization in the taiga-unpopulated area without significant expenses. Developers wrongly relied on the subsequent modernization and expansion of the Canal.
Abstract.A city as a type of a human settlement is characterized by high population density, welldeveloped infrastructure, comfortable living conditions. However, a city is a source of social problems due to high population density, limited resources and conflicts between indigenous population and newcomers. The article analyzes the development of research about the city, provides an assessment of the scope of the historical urban studies in the development of solutions to contemporary problems of urban space. Methodological resource of historical urban studies allows fully exploring the city as a set of historically interconnected spaces and social processes. The analysis of the problem field of historical urban studies at various stages of its formation allowed tracing the evolution of ideas about the city as an object of scientific knowledge, to identify future prospects of research on conditions of Russian urban development, to improve the comfort of living in them.
