The ambient-temperature reactions between VCI4 and the sulfurizing agents [(CH3),SiJ2S, [(CH3),CI2S2, [(CH,),C],S, and H2S have been studied. We have observed that VCI4 reacts differently from other transition-metal halides when sulfurized at low temperature. Indeed, the low-temperature sulfurization of VCI4 almost always yields amorphous VS4, with the formation of S-S bonds. The only exception we have observed is the reaction of VC14 with Li2S, which yields Li,VS2.( I ) Rouxel, J.; Brec, R.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
