The crystal structure of tricarbonyl(cinnamaldehyde)iron, C6HsCH=CH-CHO.Fe(CO)3, has been determined using molybdenum K~ radiation and counter techniques. Crystals are monoclinic with a= 9.723+0.010, b--7.116 + 0-007, c= 18.938_+0.018 A; fl= 115.05+0.15°; Z=4; space group P21/c. The tricarbonyl(cinnamaldehyde)iron must be considered as a zr complex. The two oxygen lone pairs do not play a part in the bonding with the metal and the structure is similar to that found in tricarbonyl-(Ncinnamylideneaniline)iron.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
