We present a new method of measuring the tilt angle and the optical biaxiality in liquid crystals (LCs). The method uses a fitting procedure of the optical path difference in specially prepared LC cells. Measurements are performed in the Sc phase of 4-n-hexyloxyplienyl-4n-decyloxybenzoate (HOPDOH) by means of microscopic observations in a rotary heating stage.
Hydrogen and deuterium are incorporated on fluorine sites into CaFZ, SrF2, and BaFZ. The X-irradiation of these crystals produces hydrogen and deuterium atoms on interstitial and substitutional sites. The EPR spectra are well known (1 to 4).Hall and Schumacher (1) investigated the ENDOR spectra of interstitial hydrogen. We looked for ENDOR spectra of S r F :H and S r F :D to get information about the dependence of the hyperfine constants of nuclei in several shells on the lattice constants of alkaline earth fluorides. The measurements were performed with a home-made super-heterodyne spectrometer at 77 and 4 . 2 K.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
