This article explores the methods of detecting boundaries in images of wave field patterns. As a result, an application for image processing was developed using Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, Gabor and Canny filters and experiments were carried out to detect the edge on images of wave field patterns. In conclusion, the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the filters were presented, and a conclusion was made on the selection of the boundary detection filter. The results of this study will be used in the study of the neural network neocognitron for the recognition of geological and physical models of environments (GPME). scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
