Abstract-An automatic teller machine requires a user to pass an identity test before any transaction can be granted. The current method available for access control in ATM is based on smartcard. Efforts were made to conduct an interview with structured questions among the ATM users and the result proofed that a lot of problems was associated with ATM smartcard for access control. Among the problems are; it is very difficult to prevent another person from attaining and using a legitimate persons card, also conventional smartcard can be lost, duplicated, stolen or impersonated with accuracy. To address the problems, the paper proposed the use of biometric voicebased access control system in automatic teller machine. In the proposed system, access will be authorized simply by means of an enroll user speaking into a microphone attached to the automatic teller machine. There are 2 phases in implementation of the proposed system: first training phase, second testing or operational phase as discussed in section 4 of this paper.
The January 2022 edition of webometric ranking placed Yaba College of Technology as number one from 152 polytechnics in Nigeria. The ranking weight is 66 for country ranking, 8162 world ranking, Impact, Openness, and Excellence of 9698, 4558, and 7190 respectively. The negative variation and low webometric ranking of Yaba College of Technology that happened to be the first higher institution of learning in Nigeria with the slogan the first and still the best is a point of concern and motivates this research work. This research work collected data to evaluate the indicators for webometric ranking among the students and staff of Yaba College of Technology, a total of 346 were sampled students 44.51 % and Staff 55.49 %. The discussion and analysis of data obtained revealed that the poor webometric ranking is due to inadequacy of the necessary ICT infrastructure to encourage robust web presence; non-availability of up-to-date and scanty content on the Polytechnics website; Non-frequent usage of the Polytechnic website by the staff and students of the Polytechnic; the inadequate number of external networks (subnets) links with Polytechnic website; insufficient number of the top-cited publications in high impact Journals from the staff of the Yaba College of Technology; and Scanty number of the profile of staff from the Polytechnic on Google Scholar and ResearchGate, etc. among others. This research work opined that low webometric ranking could result in the following negative impact on the polytechnics lowering the esteem of the Polytechnic in the eyes of stakeholders, potential students and funding agencies, academic exchange with reputable institutions from other parts of the world for teaching, learning and research may writhe. The consequence of our findings recommendations was made to improve webometric ranking in future.
In this work the Performance Comparison of Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) Routing Protocols and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) was investigated in order to evaluate the performance of Routing Protocols (AODV, DSR and TORA) and TCP (Tahoe, Reno and New Reno). The Model that represented the hypothetical network was developed and simulated using OMNet++ 4.1.The three Routing protocols were tested upon each of the three variants of Transmission Control Protocol. End to end throughput was the performance parameter (metric) used for the evaluation of Routing protocols and TCP performance.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced a new cash policy (Cashless Society), which began on 1 st of January 2012 in Lagos state. The policy will be effective nationwide from June 1 st 2012. The various technologies and issues involved in cashless society are discussed. This research work sampled the opinions of the general public on issues surrounding the Cashless Society by using structured questionnaire to gather information from people. Data obtained was tabulated and the result was analyzed using percentages. The analyzed result was presented graphically and it was discovered that larger percentage of sampled population are of the opinion that Cashless Society will proffer solution to high risk of cash related crimes such as illegal immigration, financing Terrorism, illegal drug Trade, Human Trafficking, corruption etc. It will enhance effectiveness of monetary policy in managing inflation in Nigeria, thereby improving economic growth and development. Various issues such as benefits and social implication of Cashless Society are discussed. We proposed a Model Cashless System for Nigeria, which will be more convenient for people toappreciate, embrace, and use.
