No abstract

The paper reviewed the present status of unemployment situation in Nigeria with emphasis on university graduates. Effort was also made to examine the role vocational education through Open Distance Learning (ODL) can play to address this national problem. Included is recommendation of a vocational training programme developed for graduates seeking employment in areas as Fashion, Interior Decoration, Leather works, Accessories etc. The importance of this ODL based model of vocational education and training programme has great importance and relevance in countries where unemployment is a serious challenge and where there is a great need of providing training to multitude of unemployed youths at different levels to enable them have skills that will afford them the opportunity to contribute their quota to the economic advancement of their country.

The study examined the influence of self-esteem and self-monitoring on attitudes toward internet fraud among undergraduates in Obafemi Awolowo University. Again it looked into the influence of gender on attitude towards Copyright© IAARR 2013: www.afrrevjo.net 295 Indexed African Journals Online: www.ajol.info internet fraud. A total of 249 male and female undergraduates participated in the study by filling a questionnaire. Data collected were subjected to appropriate statistical analysis using the two-way ANOVA. Results show that there is a significant gender difference in attitudes towards internet fraud (F{1.248} =3.785,P<.05), it also shows that there is no significant main influence of self-esteem on attitude towards fraud (F {1.248}=.087, P>.05) and that there is a significant main influence of self-monitoring on attitude towards internet fraud (F {1,248}= 7.221,P<.05). Based on the results, conclusions were drawn and recommendations made on the influence of self-monitoring and gender difference on attitude towards internet fraud.

The research investigated religiosity and socio-economic background as correlates of body image distortion among Obafemi Awolowo University undergraduates in Osun state, Nigeria. A total of 379 undergraduates (189 females and 190 males) were selected from the University for the study using stratified random sampling method. The research method used was descriptive survey method. Primary data was collected with the aid of questionnaires which had four sections. The data collected were analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. From the result, it was revealed that there was no significant relationship between religiosity and body image (r = -.06, p >.05); perception of body image was significantly and jointly predicted by socio-economic status (F (3,374) =15.15; p<.001); there was no significant difference between male and female on their body image (t (378) = 1.29; p> 0.05); and age did not significantly predict body image perception (b = .02; t = .38; p>0.05). The findings of the study will go a long way in helping various stakeholders and government agencies in establishing various educational programmes that can be used to change the attitudes of people positively in the way they perceived their body. However, it is important that more research should be conducted to confirm the reliability and validity of these findings. The study achieved the objective of examining the prevalence of body image as well as the influence of other variables on body image distortion. In conclusion, the study possesses the potential benefits to psychotherapist, counselors, psychologists and the general public.
