Rabbits, like other animal species, are susceptible to infection with invasive and infectious diseases. Both ecto- and endoparasites are registered in them, including helminths, insects on the body, acarus scabies, protozoa. Rabbits are characterized by a high degree of precocity, high fecundity and the breadth of use of the products obtained from them. As a product of rabbit breeding, first, meat is in demand as a dietary product. Part of the products from rabbits - hair, wool-molt is obtained during the life of the animal, and meat, skins, other products - after slaughter. Skins and rabbit hair are used for the manufacture of fur products, as well as in the felt and knitting industry. In addition, biologists, doctors, veterinarians use rabbits as laboratory animals in scientific research, for testing cosmetics, as well as in laboratories and bio factories for drug testing. To preserve the population of these species, it is important to prevent infection with various pathologies inherent in rabbits, including invasive diseases.
The purpose of the research is to determine the main clinical signs of dirofilariosis in dogs, taking into account the peculiarities of animal exploitation and to analyze the efficacy and convenience of using some diagnostic techniques. Materials and methods. The main clinical signs of dirofilariosis in dogs on the farms of Armenia have been studied. The presence of microfilariae was determined in native smears and using a modified Knott method. We also used the Asan Easy Test Heartworm and SNAP 4Dx Plus Test one-step cassette rapid tests for visual detection of Dirofilaria spp. antigen in blood serum. Results and discussion. 8.5% of dogs in the farms of the Republic of Armenia are infected with Dirofilaria sp. The most infected were dogs aged 5–8 years (75%). The main symptomatic signs of dirofilariosis in dogs were established in the specific conditions of the studied region and the specifics of the specific exploitation of animals. It has been established that the immunochromatographic test systems Asan Easy Test Heartworm and SNAP 4Dx Plus Test for visual detection of canine Dirofilaria spp. antigen in blood serum are the most effective for the diagnosis of dirofilariosis.
The deployment of the first stages of ontogenesis in all types of productive animals is determined by the change in hemostatic and rheological mechanisms. The status of these parameters strongly influences the deployment of heredity of an organism of any animal. The normal operation of the hemostasis during the neonatal strongly determines the rheological properties of blood, and therefore metabolism in the organs of young animals. Phase of neonatal calves and piglets is a serious stage of their development. Therein have the characteristic of hemostatic processes. The authors determined that during the first or second day of life in physically impaired calves and piglets develop physiologically unfavorable changes in haemostatic parameters, platelets, blood vessels and blood clotting. Emerging changes adversely affect the operation of their bodies and lead to total exclusion. The use of the drug gamavit enhances the weakened condition of newborn calves and piglets functionally acceptable reduce the activity of platelets and clotting of blood in a functionally justified the growth of the hemostatic capabilities of the vessels. It can be argued that injections of gamavit negate the existing dysfunction in hemostasis in physically weakened calves and piglets during the neonatal phase, increasing their adaptation and stimulating further growth and development of animals.
The article addresses the results of a study of blood morphology parameters in healthy dogs vs. dogs diagnosed with dirofilariasis. In the group of infected animals, the most significant difference was 4.9 higher granulocytes. Another significant contribution is eosinophils and, to a lesser extent, neutrophils and monocytes. In blood of infected and healthy animals, no difference was found in terms of the count of red blood cells, haemoglobin, and haematocrit. Anisocytosis value in red blood cells is probably related to the compensated processes, and differs insignificantly between healthy and infected animal groups. Blood morphology of infected animals is characterized by mild reticulocytosis, not exceeding 20% of physiological norm. In the group of infected dogs, platelet count corresponds to the lower boundary of physiological norm. In healthy animals’ group, platelets and platelet crit is physiologically normal. Leukopenia, lymphocytopenia are detected. Apparently, the reason behind the findings is age of the animals and degree of their adaptation to the progress of the invasive process.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
