The daily variations of Earth current potential gradients at Zaria, Nigeriamagnetic latitude 1-4"N-over a six-month period are presented. It is shown that these variations can be explained reasonably well on the application of a simple theory of electromagnetic induction in the Earth by the equatorial electrojet. Reference is also made to similar observations made previously at an equatorial station in Ghana to illustrate the latitudinal effect of the variations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
