The article reviews production and application of the nonisocyanate polyurethanes based on cyclic carbonate oligomers. Nonisocyanate polyurethane (NIPU) networks are obtained by the reaction between the polycyclic carbonate oligomers and aliphatic or cycloaliphatic polyamines with primary amino groups. The result is a crosslinked polymer with β-hydroxyurethane groups of different structure defined as a polyhydroxyurethane polymer. The article discusses NIPU and hybrid NIPU (HNIPU), which also contains epoxy and acrylic compounds. Significant attention was paid to the formation of the materials based on renewable raw materials. The authors provide an overview of the recent publications in this field with a more detailed description of the Polymate Ltd. achievements.
In the article is given a review on synthesis and application nonisocyanate polyurethanes based on cyclic carbonate oligomers. Nonisocyanate polyurethane (NIPU) networks are obtained by reaction between the polycyclic carbonate oligomers and aliphatic or cycloaliphatic polyamines with primary amino groups. This forms a crosslinked polymer with -hydroxyurethane groups of different structure -polyhydroxyurethane polymer. One of the most interesting derivatives of unsaturated fatty compounds is epoxidized triglyceride oils (ETO), particulary epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO). Until now, ESBO is primarily used as plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride, chlorinated rubber and polyvinyl emulsions to improve their stability and flexibility. Also there are numerous useful derivatives of ETO. Among the various materials, products of reactions of ETO and carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) deserve special attention. A basic composition and a technique for mixing and foaming were developed for insulating foam applied by spraying, the material being based on the use of the synthetic raw materials. UV-curable concrete floor coatings provide a durable, high-performance and eco-friendly solution. These thin-film coating systems cure instantly, thereby minimizing the downtime of any facility. Other benefits of these coatings include excellent chemical resistance, easy cleanability, little odor, and the ability to coat in cold conditions; Fig. 3
The latest published achievements in the research and developments of non-isocyanate polyurethanes on the base of five-membered cyclic carbonates and amines are briefly presented. Preparations of hybrid epoxy-amine hydroxyurethane-grafted polymers with a controlled number of cross-links are described. Examples of the use of hydroxyurethanes of different nature for modification of the oligomeric compositions are also given.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
