We have analyzed a master light curve of the classical T Tauri star RY Tau. The brightness variations observed in 1983-2004 were found to be periodic. A period of 377 ± 10 d is derived using a frequency analysis. A statistical analysis shows that the brightness variability cannot be described by a normal distribution. The brightness variations could be due to the presence of some bodies being formed in the circumstellar environment.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
