DNA base composition analyses on 35 Gram negative yellow pigmented rods indicated two distinct groups. The larger contained 29 strains with G + C contents of between 30.8 and 39.5% and comprise 19 non-gliding, atlagellate strains and 10 gliding strains. The smaller, a heterogenous collection of six strains, had G + C contents in the 5 1.4-63% range.A TAXONOMIC study on flavobacteria and related Gram negative yellow pigmented rods (Hayes 1975) has delineated a number of distinct phena and the present communication reports on the DNA base composition of strains representing these phena.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
