Data for 280 phenolic compounds from closely related plants of the genera Glycyrrhiza and Meristotropis were compiled completely for the first time. The biochemical classification of these compounds was given. Issues of their chemical structure and chemical systematics were discussed. Promising areas for further study and practical application of plants from these genera were identified.
