This article examines the competitive activity in the Kemerovo region during the Great Patriotic War. The features of holding competitions in wartime, directions of competitive activity in sports are shown. The dynamics of the development and the number of sports competitions in the cities and districts of the region are noted. In addition, the relevance of the study is substantiated, a brief historiographic review is provided. An analysis of the literature on physical culture and sports during the war years showed that the topic is poorly studied in general, and in the territory of the Kemerovo region in particular. The number of works that analyze the general state of football in the region is extremely small. The work mainly used materials from the state archives of the Kemerovo region and the Novosibirsk region. The author comes to the conclusion that despite the war, sports competitions were actively held and athletes were a potential reserve for the front.
