A Novel and Selective Method for Hydrolysis of Acetals and Ketals.-Various cyclic and acyclic acetals/ketals are hydrolyzed by a catalytic amount of CBr 4 under different energy sources, thermal and ultrasound. Dioxolans and dimethyl acetals (I) and (III) are not hydrolyzed under ultrasound, whereas the diethyl acetal gives good yield of ketone (IV).

A Facile and Highly Efficient Sonochemical Synthesis of Organostannane via Barbier Reaction.-Using this method aryl-, alkyl-, allyl-, and vinylstannanes can be prepared efficiently. Interestingly, the 1,1-dibromide (VIII) only yields the monosubstituted derivative (IX), while other dibromides like (VI) lead to disubstituted compounds.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
