PET imaging with (18) F-FDG offers prognostic information for LABC that can be obtained preoperatively and noninvasively.

Semiquantitative metabolic parameters showed statistically significant differences among the molecular subtypes of the tumours evaluated. Therefore, there seems to be a relationship between molecular and glycolytic phenotypes.

The retention index showed the best relation with biologic and clinical parameters compared with isolated SUVmax values for what could be a predictive marker of tumor biologic behavior.
