The traditional medical system has made extensive use of plants and naturally occurring compounds derived from plants. The plant has been discovered to be phyto chemically abundant in tannins, terpenes, terpenoids, phenolic compounds, phytosterols, and a variety of new metabolites that have displayed notable pharmacological effects. Lumnitzera racemosa wild is a non-viviparous evergreen shrub or small tree, an Indo-West Pacific mangrove. It is extensively used therapeutically and is becoming more wellknown as a valuable medicinal plant. Its morphology, chemical components, and biological activity in connection to extracts and extracted secondary metabolites have all been extensively studied in several examinations of this medicinal plant. This plant is used as anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic, anticancer, anti-diabetic, anti-oxidant, anti-hypertensive, anti-bacterial, and Cytotoxic, Hepatoprotective and anti-leishmanial activity. This review summarises the present level of knowledge about morphology, important bioactive components, their chemistry, purported medicinal properties, pharmacological activity, and traditional applications.
The natural antioxidants present in the plants which are of great human interest that help to prevent or treat many diseases are phenols and flavonoids. This article is focused at estimation of total Phenolic, Flavonoid content and Antioxidant activity of Hexane, Ethyl acetate, Acetone, Methanol and Ethanol extracts of Givotia moluccana (L.) Sreem. Total phenol and flavonoid content for the various solvent extracts of leaves was carried out using Folin-Ciocalteau method and flavonoid content by Aluminium chloride colorimetric method. Antioxidant properties of leaf extracts were determined by DPPH, Hydrogen peroxide scavenging capacity and Ferrous reducing antioxidant capacity assay. The plant showed good phenolic content 181.34±2.24 mg GAE/gr. Ext. and flavonoid content 96.27±1.42 mg CE/gr. Ext. for methanol extract compared to other extracts. The Antioxidant activity of methanolic extract showed highest activity by various methods used.
Bauhinia vahlii Wright & Arn is a huge climber native mainly to India and has been cultivated as an ornamental plant in different regions including Eygpt. It belongs to family Fabaceae (Caesalpinaceae), which grows in Sub-Himalayan region at an altitude of 3000m above sea level and mainly in Assam, Central India, Eastern and Western Ghats. The herb is extensively utilised in numerous traditional medical practises, including Ayurveda, Unani, and homoeopathy due to the presence of various important phytoconstituents. This review primarily outlines its historical aspects, phytoconstituents and pharmacological action and folklore uses.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
