Wandering of the point which is geomagnetically conjugate to Byrd, Antarctica, can apparently be detected by making simultaneous auroral observations at the Byrd station and at sites in the vicinity of Great Whale River. Unattended stations which automatically measure and record auroral intensities for a period of two months are needed to continue the conjugate-point studies. A feasibility study of unattended stations for this kind of observation was made, and a station which measures auroral intensities and records the data in a computer-compatible form was designed and tested in July and August, 1968.
