An attempt is made to systematize the main directions of N.A. Semashkos activity during the evacuation of the 1st Moscow Order of Lenin Medical Institute (MOLMI) during the Great Patriotic War to Ufa (October 1941 March 1942) is undertaken. The significance of its results for the Bashkir State Medical Institute (now Bashkir State Medical University) is evaluated. It is shown that the joint work of N.A. Semashko with the teaching staff of the 1st MOLMI and Bashkir medical institute improved the pedagogical and scientific qualification of teachers at Bashkir medical institute, improved the existing forms of teaching, scientific and educational work during the period of war and created new ones. Professor N.A. Semashko actively worked in several directions during complicated conditions of evacuation. Besides pedagogical and scientific activities, he was occupied with the training of scientific-pedagogical personnel, took part in advanced training of physicians and medical workers, organized educational work with the population, delivered brilliant lectures to the crowded halls. In addition, as the first Peoples Commissar of Health of the RSFSR, he helped the Peoples Commissariat of Health of the Bashkir ASSR in organizing the work of evacuation hospitals and rendering assistance to health care institutions located on the territory of the Bashkir ASSR.
Significance. Mortality rate is an important indicator of health and presence of negative factors affecting health. Emergency situations result in a significant deterioration of health, including epidemics of infectious diseases. The purpose of the study is to analyze crude and cause-specific mortality rates in the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2018-2020. Material and methods. The main source of information was form No. C-51 “Distribution of the deceased by sex, age and causes of death” of the Territorial body of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2018-2020. Results. In 2018-2020, the mortality rate in the Republic of Bashkortostan increased from 1243.2 to 1495.6 per 100 000 population (by 20.3%), including by 18.3% among males and 22.1%. among females. In the crud mortality structure, the share of diseases of the endocrine system increased from 4.2% to 5.8%, diseases of the respiratory system - from 5.6% to 13.1%, diseases of the musculoskeletal system - from 0.5% to 1.3 %, and symptoms, signs and ill-defined conditions - from 3.0% to 8.1%. Among diseases of the respiratory system, the share of pneumonia increased up to 71.3%, being higher among females. The average age at death decreased by one year; increase in crude mortality was more pronounced among the urban population (an 24.5% increase) compared to the rural population (by 15.0%). Conclusions. In 2018-2020, the Republic of Bashkortostan reported increased mortality with the average age at death decreasing by one year in 2020; mortality among the urban population is 1.3 times higher compared to the rural population.
