Cinema works as a mirror in which the human beings could see the reflection of their lives. It has a power to influence more than any other arm form. Therefore, it is very important to understand how a country, its people and its aspirations are represented in the cinema produced in the country. Mainstream Hindi cinema is the most widely distributed cinema in India. Identity construction is one of the significant issues in Bollywood. Filmmakers in India are trying to step outside the beaten track of traditional Indian themes but there has been no or little allowance for portrayal of transgender people, a subject that is still a taboo in a country where the discourse on sex itself is bound by moral restriction. Portrayal of their life stories and issues in Bollywood has veered between the sarcasm, denial, biased, comic, criminal and stereotyped. It would be interesting to study how Bollywood is portraying transgender people and what changes has their character undergone over the past decades. The research paper will analyse Sadak. The film is chosen because of being one of the first cult Bollywood film about a transgender character. Multi-modal discourse analysis will be taken as a tool for analyzing the transgender character in the film. The present research attempts to show the identity construction of a third gender by analyzing select film in Bollywood. The researcher tries to establish the fact that a fair treatment is needed in order to deconstruct the myth of this marginalized section which deciphers their individual role and identity through the lens of sex only.
Our in-depth qualitative interviews with journalism graduate students and professors, from Kashmir, India, show that unlike the rest of India, the region experienced extremely low internet connectivity, and this combined with a lack of access to technology nearly brought classes to a standstill. But students and teachers, used to social disruptions, used the COVID-19 pandemic to learn and practice journalism that was deeply bound to the community and they created “circles of trust” that helped them overcome internet and other technical issues. Ramifications for journalism education in situations of low connectivity and poor technology resources are discussed.
This paper explores the implementation of a D-STATCOM integrated model for voltage (V) stability of a hybrid power supply that is connected to a low-power distribution grid. We are currently not in a position to make effective use of clean energy sources (ES). Work is ongoing to enhance content consistency and interconnection facilities. In this paper, the integrated D-STATCOM model has been used to minimize hybrid device voltage instability. A framework in MATLAB and Simulink was designed and evaluated under different conditions by using the Simpower Systems toolbox
Newspapers are the main source of disseminating information. They play a key role as agendasetters in modern society. The function of newspapers in publicizing issues by giving in-depth view on issues like women, environment, poverty is very significant. Press as one of the pillars of democracy plays a constructive role in the national development. Speed, techniques and nature of news delivery have changed but the basic purpose of news and newspapers has remained constant and enduring. Revolution in technology, conglomeration and globalization have led to a paradigm shift in the nature of content and delivery of news. Because people depend on newspapers for their day-today information needs, newspapers should act to inform and educate people on social issues. The socially responsible press helps the citizens to be well informed on issues of immediate concern to them. Newspapers help in the emergence of public opinion and in building up of images through news reporting, expressing views, informing the public and thereby facilitating public discussion on issues of importance.
