Results: The most common artery involvement was found to be dorsapaedalis artery in 26% of the cases followed by proximal femoral and distal femoral in 18% of the cases whereas there were 12% cases with popliteal artery and distal artery branches involvement. The most common site of lesion involved was proximal femoral artery and dorsapaedalis artery seen in 26% of the cases (both) whereas distal femoral artery (DFA) was found in 10% of the cases, poplitial artery (PA) in 18% of the cases followed by posterior tibial artery (PTA) and anterior tibial artery (ATA) in 8% and 12% of the cases respectively. Conclusion: Peripheral vascular insufficiency was a significant finding in patients having diabetes for 1-10 years. The dorsalispaedis artery was the commonest site of involvement. The normal Doppler study virtually rules out a haemodynamically significant lesion and helps to prevent unnecessary intervention.
Addition of SWE to ultrasound improves characterization of BI-RADS 3 and 4a masses. E-max, E-mean and E-color are the most useful SWE parameters to differentiate between malignant and benign breast masses.
BACKGROUNDAppendicitis is a common cause for acute abdomen. Many literatures are available on imaging appendicitis and visualisation of normal appendix, but very limited studies for predominant contents of appendix by ultrasonography. Aim-To analyse contents of appendix in normal and inflamed appendix and to find if any content has association with inflammation of appendix and severity of inflammation.
BACKGROUNDBreast Ultrasound (US) is widely used as a diagnostic tool in evaluating mammographically detected masses, (1) palpable lumps, (2,3) nipple discharge (4) and in guiding percutaneous biopsy. (5) Breast ultrasound is a primary diagnostic tool along with mammography for the evaluation of breast masses. Aim-To determine the accuracy of Breast Ultrasound in evaluating BI-RADS 3 and 4 breast masses with pathologic diagnosis as reference gold standard.
Introduction:Most common complication of pregnancy is intrauterine growth restriction which is associated with perinatal mortality, morbidity and neurological impaired development. Doppler of Uterine, umbilical, middle cerebral arteries and cerebro-placental ratio are commonly done for intrauterine growth restriction evaluation. The aim of the study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of fetal middle cerebral artery and umbilical artery by Doppler ultrasonography in high risk mothers and correlation with perinatal outcome. Material and Methods: Fifty singleton pregnancies beyond 28 weeks of gestation complicated by intrauterine growth restriction were prospectively examined with Doppler ultrasound of umbilical and middle cerebral arteries. Results: 40 of the 50 cases included in the study had adverse outcome. The sensitivity of Doppler of the umbilical artery using Pulsatility index was 82.5%, middle cerebral artery Pulsatility index was 77.5% and ratio of middle cerebral artery Pulsatility index / umbilical artery Pulsatility index was 87.5% in predicting perinatal outcome. Conclusion: Pulsatility index ratio of middle cerebral artery / umbilical artery is the most sensitive index in predicting perinatal outcome (87.5%). Umbilical Systolic /Diastolic ratio is the most specific index (80.9%). Absent and reversed diastolic flow in umbilical artery in prenatal sonography carries grave prognosis and high mortality of fetus. Combined use of both umbilical and middle cerebral arterial doppler study including the cerebro-placental ratio increase the sensitivity of the doppler studies for prediction adverse perinatal outcome.
