Transportation is an essential element for the development of countries economically, socially, and culturally. AL-Nasiriyah is one of the highly congested urban centers within Dhi-Qar province. Network in the city center suffers congestion, particularly during peak hours simply because of the existence of vitality centers (educational, commercial and government). The network is used to assess the flow of the current traffic network patterns through several programs such as the (TransCad, GPS, GIS) so collecting different types of data, such as (Traffic volumes and free flow speed) using a device (MSSS), field surveys is done for the work of large-scale map road network. The results of the evaluation showed that most of the roads in the city have a level of service type (B), as the network showed service-level type (F) at which the vehicle relative to the road capacity (v/c) is greater than one in the city center, such as (Habboubi Street, Nasir bridge, Sumer Street, etc.) as illustrated in analysis map. On the basis of that proposed to add new roads to change path of external - external trips and also add new bridges to get rid of the congestion that appeared in the city center.
Urban air pollution is a major environmental problem in all World countries. Air pollution in urban areas may be caused by human activities such as mobility behavior, waste management, industrial development (brick industry, cement industry), production and use of energy (for processing, heating and cooking), and activities which produce dust and suspended particles. The effects of urban air pollution on public health are being felt worldwide. There are a number of factors that influence urban air quality including geographical location, climatological and meteorological factors (temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction), city planning and design, and finally human activities in such areas. The aim of this study was to measure certain important pollutants (VOCs, SO 2 , H 2 S, NO 2 ), and assessing the effect of fuel burning that use in the brick factories. Geographic Information System (GIS) was utilized to map urban air pollution dispersion in AL-Nahrawan suburban -Baghdad city -Iraq. From GIS distribution maps for SO 2 , NO 2 , H 2 S and VOCs pollutants , it was found that the value of these gasses were changed from one location to another according to the quantity and quality of fuel used and wind direction. Generally it can concluded that the concentration of measured all examined gasses in the study area was exceeding the WHO and national standards.
In this study have followed the oils and grease in Tigris River within Baghdad city during the period 2010-2015 by using ArcGIS 10.2 program. Two satellite image of each year were used which were taken in as same time as collected samples and painted the mapping which show the locations of pollution the river by oil and grease. This study showed the Tigris river is pollution by the oil and grease, and the values were up limit allowable depend on the world health organization (who) and Iraqi criteria.
Transportation is an essential element for the development of countries economically, socially, and culturally. The progress in countries is measured through the progress in transportation systems and urban road network. Al-Fallah intersection which lies in northeastern of Baghdad city considered one of the highly congested urban centers, suffers congestion, particularly during morning and evening peak hours. The objective of this study is to analyses the delay time, degree of saturation, level of service in Al-Fallah intersection in Baghdad city using Synchro.10 software in addition to evaluate and analyze the intersection formchoosing the best suggestion. The technique of video recording has been used for collection the traffic volume data for all approaches from 7a.m to 4 p.m. for three days: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The operation analysis of isolated signalized intersection provides valuable and important information about the performance of transportation system in the city. The through movements of Al-Fallah Street illustrate the movement from center of Al-Sadir city to Al-Rusafa and reverse, they represent the heaviest traffic volumes in Al-Fallah intersection. The Results of analysis specified that the Al-Fallah intersection works under level of service F with an average control delay of (322.1) seconds per vehicle and degree of saturation (2.56) v/c during the peak hours.
