Two coding techniques are adopted in this paper to improve the performance of Space Time Block Codes-Spatial Modulation (STBC-SM). The two adopted coding techniques are the turbo-coding technique and the convolutional-coding technique over block fading channel. The signals used in the two coded systems are assumed to be modulated using BPSK and QPSK. The MATLAB simulation results show that at a BER of 10.5, the turbo-coded and convolutional-coded systems can provide about 3-4.5 dB and 2.7-3.8 dB coding gains respectively compared with the uncoded system.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
