Data hiding is an important way of realizing copyright protection for multimedia. In this paper, we present a reversible data hiding scheme based on histogram modification. Distribution of pixel differences is used to achieve large hiding capacity while keeping distortion low. The proposed histogram-based reversible data hiding approach employed a 3-by-3 box filter prediction scheme and embedded two bits for each pixel. Performance comparisons with other existing schemes are provided to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed scheme
