Abstract:The aim of this researchis to examine the effect of project-based learning model toward the writing ability of geography scientific papers on senior high school students.The subjects of the research are students of class XI IPS SMAN 1 Campurdaratconsists of two classes. The both class are class XI IPS 1 as the control class and XI IPS 2 as experimentclass.The instrument is used to measure the ability to write scientific papers geography using the rubric of scientific papersassessment. Results were analyzed using independent samples t test with SPSS 20.0 for Windows.The results showed an average gain score of writing ability of geography scientific papers for experiment class is higher than the control class. The results of independent samples t test analysis showed that the project-based learning model significantly affect toward the writing ability of geography scientific papers on senior high school students.
East Java is one of the region which have a potentialnatural disaster. There are fourpotentialdisastersoccurredinthe region, namelyfloods, landslides, volcanic eruptions, and earthquakes. The disasterproved tohave a negative impacton people's lives. The impact ofthe disasteris due toa lack ofanticipationforcommunities to disastersthatoccurin thereenvironment. Topreventlong-term impact, environmental Education(EE) has astrategic roletoempowerstudents tohaveanticipatoryculture. This study is a preliminary research which aims to identify thecharacteristics of thedisaster which occurredinEast Java and conditions of disaster education at school. Object of the study is floods of the Konto river and landslides at Pujon district and the Kelud eruption at Pandansari Ngantang.This research uses descriptive analysis by reducing data, looking for determinant variables, and takes a conclusion. The research results show the natural disaster in research consists of flooding, landslide, and eruption. Floods and landslides occur on rainy season around December-January. Catastrophic floods caused by heavy rainfall and deforestation. While, the eruption depends on each mountain. The cause of disaster is material of eruption. Status of environment education at school is diverse, there is a region by mandatory local content-based with monolithic approach, and there is also region by elective with integrative approach. Load of the EE subjects is 2 credits, while the school is not compulsory be integrated to the main subject. In this study also be foud tha teachers do not have a EE model for anticipate natural disaster.
Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengungkap hubungan antara minat membaca dengan hasil belajar geografi, (2) mengungkap hubungan antara kebiasaan membaca dengan hasil belajar geografi, (3) mengungkap hubungan antara minat dan kebiasaan membaca dengan hasil belajar geografi, dan (4) mengungkap hubungan yang paling dominan antara minat dan kebiasaan membaca dengan hasil belajar geografi. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Unggulan Pondok Pesantren Zainul Hasan Genggong Probolinggo yang terbagi dalam empat kelas. Sampel penelitian dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling dengan menunjuk dua kelas yang memiliki nilai ratarata tertinggi dan terendah yaitu siswa kelas X-3 untuk kelas nilai tertinggi dan siswa kelas X-4 untuk kelas terendah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan instrument angket. Hasil belajar diukur dengan keberadaan nilai UAS semester ganjil siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat hubungan negatif antara minat membaca dan hasil belajar geografi dengan kontribusi minat membaca sebesar 8,8%, (2) terdapat hubungan positif antara kebiasaan membaca dan hasil belajar geografi dengan kontribusi kebiasaan membaca sebesar 21,8%, (3) terdapat hubungan yang positif secara simultan antara minat dan kebiasaan membaca dengan hasil belajar geografi, (4) Kebiasaan membaca memiliki hubungan yang paling dominan di antara minat membaca dengan hasil belajar geografi.
