The spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia needs the policy to overcome it, especially for the implemented communication. The government communicates that dealing with the spread of COVID-19 is a problem in society. The study is to find out how the public’s response is related to the communication of government policies in preventing COVID-19. The approach of this study is quantitative, with data collection carried out through questionnaires for 400 respondents. The data obtained are analyzed using SPSS 25.0. The study finds that the government conducted communication crises dealing with the overcoming of COVID-19 to protect their policies from the reality that society’s policies were not obeyed. This attitude happens due to the inconsistency of government officers and their conduct towards society. Related to the vaccination of COVID-19, the majority of society in Medan says they agree with the program to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This article aims to analyze how the frame of online media coverage in Medan on Malay Culture. The identity of Ethnic Malay Culture in Medan can be found in several buildings that become icons of Medan city such as Maimon Palace and Masjid Raya Al Mahsun located in the center of Medan City. In addition to having various icons related to Malay, Medan is also a city with native Malay people. Along with the stream of globalization, Malay Culture is increasingly widely recognized by the community or public through the mass media, mainly online media in Medan. This research was conducted through a qualitative approach with a constructivist paradigm through Entman framing model analysis method. The results of this article are that the online media in Medan in this case www.medan.tribunnews.com gives a wide space in spreading Malay Culture in Medan. Three findings are related to the reporting themes, government and community involvement in the preservation and attractiveness of Malay Culture depicted in the news is a hope that the Malay culture will be maintained and sustainable in the community of the city of Medan despite the stream of globalization.
Tourism objects are one of the business fields that are developing so fast and creating competition between one tourist attraction and another in reaching visitors or tourists. Tourist attractions are actively developing to improve existing tourist locations continuously and make updates related to marketing strategies. The purpose of this study was to determine the marketing communication strategy for Sawah Pematang Johar tourism to increase tourist visits. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. Data obtained from observation, interviews, and documentation using descriptive analysis techniques, which describe the events under study. In this study, the number of informants was 5 people, namely the owner of the rice fields, field officers, to tourists. The research location is in the tourism village of the Pematang johar rice field, Deli Serdang Regency. The results showed that in marketing, the village government used a communication strategy to attract tourists in three ways, namely promotion through social media in the form of Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, MU television broadcasts, and word of mouth. The implementation of the 2020 Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in the Covid-19 pandemic requires cooperation and synergy of every existing element to uphold the constitution and suppress the outbreak of Covid-19. This study was conducted to determine the public's perception of whether the simultaneous regional elections in 2020 became a new cluster in the spread of covid-19. The method used in this study is a descriptive quantitative approach, using a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The data obtained were analyzed through percentage analysis and multiple regression tests. This study found that 400 respondents (36.36%) did not trust the information conveyed by mass media and social media regarding the development of 553 respondents (50.30%) stated that they would attend the polling stations only if there were strict safety procedures and implementation of health protocols.
This study aims to determine the public opinion of the city of Medan against the simultaneous election of the president and legislators in 2019 using quantitative research methods. In determining the sample, the researcher used a probability sampling method, then the sampling technique was a proportional stratified sample. The sample size uses the Slovin formula about determining the number of samples from a particular population with a 5% error requirement. The subject of this study involved the people of Medan city who have been registered as permanent voters in the upcoming elections in 2019. This study uses correlational analysis of data analysis techniques. Correlational analysis is statistical analysis that seeks to find relationships or influences between two or more variables. The conclusion of this study found that around 95.25% of respondents knew that the 2019 elections would be held simultaneously while electing the president and legislature. And 77.50% of respondents agreed to the implementation of presidential and legislative elections carried out simultaneously.
