The graft polymers in the title, in which both the stem and the graft are biodegradable, could be synthesized for the first time in one-pot by the thermal ring-opening graft polymerization (in bulk, at 100 ˚C) of L,L-lactide onto chitin or chitosan. The reactivity of sugars was found to be as follows: chitosan > chitin. All the graft polymers prepared were insoluble in common organic solvents. However, these graft polymers were well swollen in chloroform at room temperature.
2-Alkyl-3,3-dichlorospiro[cyclopropane-1,9′-fluorene] derivatives (4) were obtained by the addition of CCl2 to 9-alkylidenefluorenes. Ring opening reactions of 4 with bases gave enynes, butadienes, or butatrienes.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
