Environmental Issues in Education: The Case of Pesticides in Lebanon In the untamed world of globalization, rapid industrialization, and the gluttony for material consumption centering on the rapid depletion of certain natural resources, all coupled with high emission of polluting carbons and chemicals, the ecosystem lost its balance pushing this tiny planet, earth, towards natural catastrophes. This research highlights the main environmental issues and problems citing Lebanon as an example of many developing countries, caused by reckless behavior and policies, as they fail to design and adopt solutions to a series of complicated problems. The main question revolves around what causes humans to persist in mismanaging the natural resources that sustain their existence? The immediate answer may be summarized in these words: ignorance, individualism and greed. The authors aim at highlighting the setting and formulation of an international strategy, focusing particularly upon the problem of global warming. The case of misuse of pesticides in the Lebanese agricultural sector and their fatal impact upon the environment will be highlighted. The stress will be on the role of education in forming and shaping ecological awareness, at schools, universities, media, NGOs, and particularly governmental institutions. The paper concludes by calling for launching the setup of an international strategy to establish lobbying chapters in every country. The aim would be to follow up on public and private policies while applying effective academic and practical steps in schools and universities to develop an effective awareness of environmental problems. It invites governments, municipalities, socio-religious groups and NGOs to assume their active roles and awaken the common citizen’ s consciousness and responsibilities through ecological promotion and replenishment activities to sustain a balanced ecosystem for future generations to enjoy.

Keywords: natural resources, pesticides, agricultural sector, education, ecosystem, environment.

In the present globalization environment, firms compete to enter new markets in search for profitability. The process has become very complex and competitive unless efficient strategic mergers and acquisitions are skillfully researched, evaluated, and consumed. Businesses focus on research and development, resources availability, skilled human resources and personnel, as well as on a favorable, socio-economic, and legal environment. Lebanese businesses are in constant search for qualified partners to investigate entering into strategic alliances, devise proper planning and achieve a competitive advantage. This paper explores the potentials to form strategic alliances with European business partners focusing heavily, and in depth, on highlighting and analyzing the essential requirements for the success of such ventures. While it outlines the advantages and positive projections, it also reflects on any pitfalls that might arise, due to the incompatibility of the partners, within a multicultural international tapestry. The research methodology will review theories and writings by recognized scholars in the field in order to clarify the entailments related to strategic management and alliances between Lebanese and European firms. Semi-structured interviews are conducted with professionals in several sectors including industry, banking, insurance, real estate, tourism, and others.
Technological inventions stand beyond limits in application to promote and sustain good governance as man travels in open space in search for and discovery of the mysteries of the galaxies. In contrast, man in most developing countries still relies upon the primitive instinct reflected in thought, behavior, and culture of violence. Good governance is enhanced by technological discoveries to promote constructive communication, facilitate transactions, keep accurate records, provide better public services, and combat corruption. It is the key factor to promote governance transparency, managerial effectiveness, and sustain development. This research focuses upon collecting data from the developing country Lebanon, in the MENA region, where most official and public transactions are still carried out handwritten in ledgers and endless bureaucratic tapes. The authors aim to collect and analyze the actual data, for it is heartbreaking that in the 21st century humans are still living in the swampy darkness of corruption and backwardness. The hypothesis of this research aims at highlighting the importance and values produced by the application of e-government to help sustain the country s development.
