Polymeric dihydroquinolines, which are commonly used as antioxidants for macromolecular systems, were prepared by acid-catalyzed condensation of acetone with aniline. The final products may differ in quality according to the purity of the starting materials and conditions of preparation. In the present work, three commercial antioxidants of the type of polymeric 2,2,4-trimethyl-l ,2-dihydroquinoline were mutually compared from the chemical point of view. Some of the components of the antioxidants were identified by mass spectrometry after prior separation using GPC and LLC-RP.
For LC separation of antioxidants with differently sterically shielded polar groups, a selective interactions solute‐mobile phase may be utilized. Improvement of the separation in the reversed‐phase LLC can be achieved by means of utilization of the various interaction profiles of some solvents. In this study, reversed‐phase LLC with a macroporous gel, Separon SE, was applied for characterization of the retention behavior of some antioxidants and for the determination of these compounds in rubber and plastics.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
