The article contains an analytical review of diversification processes in the agro-food sector. The reasons for the formed diversification trends are identified; the potential for their modification or preservation is assessed, taking into account the transformation of factors that are catalysts for these processes; considerable attention is paid to issues of regional diversification in the context of sanctions restrictions. Possible modifications of the processes of regional diversification in the agro-food sector in the focus of measures taken by the country’s leadership in the framework of the formation of national food security and ensuring the long-term integrated development of the national agro-food sector have been studied. The reserves of the use of existing technological capabilities for constructive support and correction of the trends of regional diversification have been assessed. The possible prospective territories of localization of agro-industrial enterprises in the regions are investigated. Based on the results of the study, measures are proposed to optimize the trends of regional diversification, taking into account the capabilities of the state.
