2012)Supervisor and coworker support: a source congruence approach to buffering role conflict andThe buffering effects of supervisor support on the stressor -strain relationship have proven elusive in prior research (Beehr, Farmer, Glazer, Gudanowski and Nair (2003), 'The Enigma of Social Support and Occupational Stress: Source Congruence and Gender Role Effects,' Journal of Occupational and Health Psychology, 8, 220-231). We built on emerging work on source congruence and conservation of resource theory to test a series of hypotheses intended to clarify these mixed findings. Using a sample of 768 employees from 45 organizations in North America, results from moderated regression analyses, showed that the effects of supervisor support on the stressor-strain relationship depended on source congruence. In accordance with our predictions, although we found buffering effects for the physical stressors -strain relationship, we found a reverse buffering effect for the role conflict -strain relationship. These differential buffering effects did not emerge when considering coworker support. We discuss the implications of our results for shedding light on the mixed evidence regarding buffering work stressors reported in prior research.
One of the most important elements for the rehabilitation process regards to the correct evaluation of the biomechanical and the electrophysiological responses. This evaluation must be done during the therapy. In general, the improvements achieved by the treatment are slightly and difficult to be distinguished. This is a difficult task when the changes in the signals obtained by the bio-amplifiers (EMG, electro-goniometry, etc) are evaluated by a wired system because the patient cannot interact with its environment freely. The present work tackles the design, construction and implementation of a platform to carry out biomechanical analysis for upper and lower limbs. The included variables in the biomechanical system are the angular position, linear acceleration, electromyography signals and force executed by the limbs. The designed scheme considers the wireless monitoring of relevant signals; such variables allow us to analyze the effectiveness achieved by the therapy. Processing and data exhibition are carry out in a personal computer. Two application examples regarding the biomechanical wrist evaluation and the EMG correlation are presented. Nonlinear algorithms to analyze the information obtained in the system are used to evaluate the biomechanical responses produced in different patients.
This study explores the relationship between authentic leadership and innovation at the team level of analysis. The proposed research model outlines the intervention of three mediating variables: cognitive integration, affective integration, and work engagement. Data were collected from 32 organizations (132 teams) ascribed to the so-called digital ecosystem, an organizational context in which the needs for authentic leadership and innovation seem to be integral to the firm’s performance to succeed in the marketplace. The research supported the presence of a positive relationship between authentic leadership and innovation in work teams. Additionally, affective integration and engagement were found to mediate the relationship between the dependent and the independent variables. Cognitive integration, however, did not manifest any mediating effect. Theoretically, these findings support the consideration of authentic leadership as a job resource that is able to enhance the organizational outcomes, according to the Job Demand and Resources Model.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
