However, a more important application is the study of complex counting systems to separate the effects of color and chemical quenching. In this respect, the technique offers two important advantages over the spectrophotometric method. The isolated internal standard is faster requiring only one additional measurement. Also, expensive accessory equipment is unnecessary; an easily prepared standard assembly that is stable indefinitely is all that is required.
