The purpose of the work. The article is devoted to the definition of the features and essence of documentation support of the legal sphere. Methodology consists in the application of methods of analysis, synthesis, comparative method, with the help of which scientific works related to the subject of scientific research are studied. Scientific novelty. Lexicographic sources, scientific works, and normative-legal acts in which questions within the limits of the chosen subject of research were considered are analysed. The absence of the results of a comprehensive study on the issue of documentation support of the legal sphere has been established. It is stated that this does not allow the allocation of communicative areas for its improvement and their implementation. For the first time, the characteristic features are determined and the concept of the communication system of the legal sphere is formulated. Conclusions. The following features of documentation support of the legal sphere are defined: its implementation by creating conditions for legal activity in accordance with specific needs and requirements; their localisation in the context of documenting legal information and organisation of work with legal documents; connection of documentation support of the legal sphere with document science, which has a clear communicative aspect and has an impact on the formation of legal relations; nomination of a legal document as a carrier and source of information of a legal nature and a phenomenon of the information and communication sphere, which has a general communicative and special legal functions. The definition of documentation support of the legal sphere is formulated. It is the process of creating appropriate conditions for documenting information of a legal nature and organisation of office work, necessary for the interaction between participants in the communication system of legal entities, as well as the emergence, change or termination of legal relations. In the conditions of formation of documentation systems of Ukraine, being integrated into world similar systems, the development of branch documentary mechanisms, their integration among themselves at the national and international level becomes relevant. Of particular importance among such mechanisms is the system of legal documentation and its subordinated communication system of documentation of the legal sphere. The question of formulating the concept for the latter and clarifying its relationship with other known documentation systems is in demand. Current legislation, available scientific and lexicographical works do not provide an unambiguous answer to this question. Therefore, there is the necessity of: specialized study and generalization of all sources related to this issue; critical rethinking of the provisions developed by practitioners and scholars in this field; making of an unambiguous position on correlation of terms of communication system of documentation support of legal sphere, disciplinary, basic and infrastructural systems of documentation. Arguments in favor of distinguishing these documentary phenomena and their relationship, taking into account vertical (hierarchical) and horizontal connections, were formulated. The results of the study made it possible to: develop an author's definition of the communication system of documentation support of the legal sphere; to determine the regularity of its subordination to the following systems: the system of legal documentation -the public disciplinary (branch) system of documentation -the general system of documentation; to prove its formation as a result of a combination of practical, educational and scientific "basic" areas of law, as well as functional (infrastructural) documentation systems, which are diffuse in nature: regulatory, managerial and organizational-administrative.

The purpose of the article is devoted to the purpose of the definition of characteristics and conceptsof the communication system of the legal sphere (in aspects of branch document science). The methodologyconsists of the application of methods of analysis, synthesis, comparative method, with the help of whichscientific works related to the subject of scientific research are studied. Scientific novelty. The absence ofresults, the formation of which is devoted to the article, has been established. It was found that a number ofworks, which to some extent concern our scientific interests, do not solve the purpose of the search highlightedin the publication. The spectrum of characteristic features is singled out and the concept of the communicationsystem of the legal sphere is formulated for the first time. Conclusions. The following characteristics ofthe communication system of the legal sphere were identified: functioning in the process of subjects of lawinteraction; implementation through the exchange of legal information through oral and written forms ofspeech; the prevalence of the documentary aspect due to the documentary display and dissemination of legalinformation, as well as the use of functional styles, the combination of which creates the phenomenon ofdocumentary linguistic expression of legal thought; acquisition of communicative qualities related to the fieldof jurisprudence. A definition for the communication system of the legal sphere has been formulated.
