Since the dawn of mankind, humans have been closely associated with animals, over time, these animals have become members of the family, necessitating more specific health care. The Healthy Pet Extension Project aimed to bring clinical care in the area of Small Animal Clinic to the most needy communities in the municipality of Bom Jesus-PI. Visits were made to the communities to conduct consultations, to collect material for examinations and to provide guidelines on the promotion of animal health. In addition, banners and folders were made in public squares and free fairs and contained important information on the creation of dogs and cats. The population served by the students was satisfied with the attendance; in addition, the project was important for the students involved, because through it enabled an interaction of the theory learned in the course of the course with the practice exercised in the care. It is concluded that the extension project is of great importance for both the academic community and the population. With regard to students, it is possible to reconcile theory with practice, as well as obtaining experience mainly in the area of medical practice of dogs and cats, thus contributing to their professional future. As far as the population served hears guidelines and clarifications regarding responsible care, vaccination, food and general care with domestic animals.
__________________________________________________________________________Resumo: Nas últimas décadas houve uma intensificação nas ações dos órgãos de saúde pública a respeito do tema segurança alimentar, principalmente após o envolvimento da mídia noticiando os casos de surtos alimentares. Com isso, as pessoas estão cada vez mais preocupadas com tudo que acontece no mundo e principalmente com as questões que envolvem a sua saúde. Neste sentido, esta pesquisa teve o objetivo de avaliar as condições higiênico-sanitárias dos estabelecimentos comercializadores de carnes no município de Bom Jesus-PI. O propósito principal da pesquisa foi avaliar o grau de conformidades e não conformidades das instalações e dos manipuladores de alimentos, tendo em vista que estes são considerados uma das principais fontes de contaminação na área de alimentos de acordo com a RDC 275/02. As condições higiênico-sanitárias encontradas nos estabelecimentos visitados comprovam que todos apresentavam um ou mais itens que estavam em desacordo com as legislações. People are increasingly worried about everything that happens in the world and especially with the issues that involve their health. In this sense, this research had the objective of evaluating the hygienic-sanitary conditions of the butcher shop in the city of Bom Jesus-PI. The main purpose of the research was to evaluate the degree of conformity and nonconformity of facilities and food handlers, considering that these are one of the main sources of contamination in the food area according to RDC 275/02. The hygienic-sanitary conditions found in the visited establishments showed that all of them had one or more items that were in disagreement with the legislation.
