This paper focuses on various studies related to the performance, combustion and emission characteristics of a diesel engine fuelled with Simarouba oil as the bio fuel and Isobutanol as the oxygenated additives. The experiments were carried out on a 4 - stroke, single cylinder diesel engine by varying load. Extensive research work is being done in this field using a variety of biofuels. Bio fuels are nothing but the fuels that are obtained from plants to be used in Internal Combustion engines which in turn have the added advantage of lower emissions to that of conventional diesel and gasoline. Simarouba oil blends had been used in direct injection compressed ignition engine as an alternate fuel that has similar properties of diesel.
