A high prevalence of osteoporosis was observed in elderly Indian subjects. pDXA has high negative predictive value, making it a useful tool in population screening for osteoporosis.

The prevalence of vertebral fractures among older Indians was comparable to that reported in Caucasian populations. Prevalence of vertebral fractures increased with age in females, but not in males. Overweight individuals were protected against vertebral fractures.

Serum FT3 and TSH were positively while FT4 was negatively associated with BMI in apparently healthy euthyroid children.
