Atrial dissociation in a boxer with a carcinoma of the middle earThe case report describes an atrial dissociation in a 9-year-old male boxer diagnosed by ECG and echocardiography. Torticollis, severe neck pain and auscultatory arrhythmia were found during the clinical examination. In addition, a mass was found in the left tympanic bulla and histologically a carcinoma of the middle ear was diagnosed.
sample values. The patient had reccurent problems with social functioning, which manifested as intermittent palpitations, precordial sensations, and a prolonged episode of large amplitude incontrollable tremor for which he was hospitalized once again after the second episode of pancreatitis. Conclusion The presented cases show the possible extent of extrapulmonary illness caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae in children. Judging by these cases, autoimmune mechanisms and also genetic factors seem to play an important role in the infection of a specific organ by M. pneumoniae.
In the group of children with first febrile UTI, VUR was discovered in 30 (36,6%). With regard to VUR, no significant difference was found between normal pathologic ultrasound findings (38.1% vs. 41.7%; p 0.739). No difference was found regarding severity of UTI: urine Leukocyte < 20 vs. urine Leukocyte > 20 (40.3% : 43.7%; p= 0,787), CRP < 50 vs. CRP > 50 (37.5% : 35.5%; p= 0,46) as well as between age of children <1 year vs. > 1 year (34,5% : 41,3%; p=0,141. Significant differences were found between girls and boys (M vs.F = 19.0% vs.34.6%; p = 0.0466).Analyzed data point to a higher likelihood of background VUR in recurrent UTI; whereas gender, age, urinary tract ultrasound examination, severity, and other causative agents of UTI have no predictive value for VUR detection. ceVUS is one of the best choices in modern nephrology for the detection of VUR with high sensitivity and negligible side effects.
subjects could sit unassisted. At 24 months after gene therapy, 64% of subjects achieved head control, 50% could sit unassisted, and 18% could stand with support. At 60 months after gene therapy, 75% of subjects achieved head control, 67% of subjects could sit unassisted, 25% of subjects could stand with support, and 8% subjects could walk with support. In contrast, only 4% of the subjects in the NHDB control group achieved key motor milestones (P<0.0001 ). These results demonstrate that the attainment of milestones is sequential in nature and that the percentage of patients achieving more advanced milestones (eg, standing with support, walking with assistance) increases over time. The number of patients achieving full head control and sitting unassisted was significantly higher in patients treated with eladocagene exuparvovec compared to the NHDB control group. The results indicate that patients with AADC deficiency treated with eladocagene exuparvovec show significant improvements in achieving motor milestones, impacting the natural history of disease.
