This study investigates the competitiveness of Indonesian biodiesel export among the top seven of biodiesel trader countries in the world, as well as the factors that determine export for Indonesian biodiesel. Applying Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) analysis, the results show that Indonesia has good competitiveness of biodiesel in the world. Using secondary data, the results of the gravity model indicate that distance of trade destination countries harms the Indonesian biodiesel export. Meanwhile, price, exchange rate, and GDP have a positive effect on the export. Based on the results of this study, the government of Indonesia should focus on the development of the biodiesel industry, since the increasing importance of biodiesel as alternative energy in the world.
Redenomination is a simplification of nominal value of currency by reducing digit (zero number) without reducing the real value of the currency. The main objective of this research was to examine whether the economic conditions at the time of redenomination may affect the success of currency redenomination. The methods used were regression analysis on historical data of 30 countries which are involved in redenominating their currencies, economic experiments with t-test, and survey of people’ perspective. Based on regression analysis, inflation will decrease and economic growth will rise higher after redenomination, if previously a country have experienced high economic growth as well. Based on experimental research, when inflation was high, redenomination could increase the selling price. Otherwise, when inflation was low, redenomination could decrease the selling price. Changes in selling price after redenomination was not affected significantly by differences in economic growth conditions. In different economic conditions, redenomination policy did not significantly affect the changes number of transactions and total value of transactions in the market. From the survey results, public did not believe government can control inflation after redenomination. Redenomination also will not affect consumption pattern. The fuel reform policy in Indonesia is a new step for the government with the aim of distributing more environmentally friendly fuel. The use of Premium fuel is considered to be inappropriate in terms of emission standards, price acquisition and distribution distribution to the community. This will greatly affect the pattern of behavior in the use of fuel in people's lives. There needs to be an effort to substitute the use of subsidized fuel for Pertalite and Pertamax which are considered better. The data used in this study are primary data obtained from survey results and direct interviews with vehicle fuel users in West Java, Central Java and East Java. The method used in this study is the Logit Probit Regression method to analyze the factors that affecting consumer behavior in transition the use of Premium fuel to Pertalite and Pertamax. By doing a comparison between Logit and Probit Regression shows that the Logit Regression model is the best analysis model. The estimation results explain that the factors that significantly affecting the shift in the use of Premium fuel to Pertalite and Pertamax are gender, income level, number of vehicle units and public perception of green energy. Meanwhile, the level of education and distance to gas stations did not significantly affect the transition pattern of using Premium fuel in the community.
