Vascular abnormalities are localized structural irregularities, which are performed during vasculogenesis, angiogenesis, and lymphangiogenesis. The involvement of soft tissue in such vascular malformations is frequent; however, the compromising of the buccal fat pads (Bichat bags) is uncommon, even in specialized centers, such as the plastic clinic of our institution, in which very few patients have been reported in the literature. The purpose of this article is to present a series of 2 patients in which vascular malformations involving the buccal fat pads, which were extracted by intraoral approach.

Skin cancer has become a public health problem due to its high incidence and the considerable percentage that it occupies within the main malignant neoplasias. There are several risk factors to develop this pathology, and it was observed that exposure to UV rays is among the most important. For its study, it is divided into two types: melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer, which in turn is classifi ed into basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. Most cases are preventable and respond well to treatment when they are diagnosed promptly; it is, therefore, to be considered a relevant topic within the medical practice.

La autoimagen corporal es uno de los constructores de la autoestima y la insatisfacción con la misma es uno de los principales motivos para la búsqueda de procedimientos estéticos. La cirugía plástica es un componente esencial para la recuperación psicológica del paciente. De hecho, hasta un 48% de los pacientes que buscan atención por un cirujano plástico padecen de algún tipo de trastorno psicológico. Es por este motivo que la identificación de los pacientes con rasgos de trastornos depresivos se vuelve fundamental. Este artículo tiene por objetivo realizar una revisión sistemática de la literatura referente a la depresión y cirugía plástica, así como educar y orientar a los cirujanos plásticos acerca de esta asociación, que en muchas ocasiones puede ser catastrófica.
