Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the epidemiological curve of the new coronavirus and the flexibilization of trade in a city in the North of Minas Gerais. Methods: This is a descriptive and exploratory study, with a quantitative approach that gathers data that can be encrypted numerically. The research was conducted in the period from March 2020 to January 2021, through the database of the Health Secretary of a city in the North of Minas Gerais. Results: We denote an increase in the epidemiological curves referring to confirmed cases, notified cases and deaths by COVID-19 in the studied city, in the period from August to September were the months that suffered a greater impact of these numbers. In this same period there was a relaxation of isolation measures such as the relaxation of trade, linked to this can be cited the default of the population to follow the recommendations of social isolation in this period of pandemic. Conclusion: The pandemic is still in a growing phase in all Brazilian states. The studies presented suggest that the combination of isolation of cases and measures of social distancing have the potential to reduce the transmissibility of the disease.
