The article is focused on the problem of ecotranslation as a new socio-cultural phenomenon in Polish and Ukrainian contemporary translation studies. It is proved that a new socio-ecological consciousness has led to the motivation for the conception of the Deep Ecology Movement, and then to ecotranslation/ecotranslatology proper. The authors substantiate that ecotranslation could be viewed from two perspectives: ecological (global) and cultural (national).

This article deals with the development of ecological linguistics as a new object of study in modern linguistics. It examines the peculiarities of language research approaches as an instrument of harmonious lifestyle of the people as well as an important means of social contact in the international research. The anthropocentric and eco-centric lines may be distinguished as competitive modes in the development of modern humanitarian sciences for the reason that they introduce different approaches to investigating processes and results of human activity. The subject of ecolinguistics is the interaction between language, man as a linguistic person and his environment. Language is considered as an integral component of the chain of relationships between man, society and nature. Special attention is paid to the notion “meaning” from the point of view of ecological linguistics. It is stressed that meaning is the link connecting the representations of interaction with the verbal and non-verbal objects in the mind of the person.

The article is focused on main characteristics of a new postmodern genre  ̶ chick lit, namely on the image of a wise woman in modern literature. The analysis is based on the novel “The Devil Wears Prada” by Lauren Weisberger, as well as on the classification of literary images that occur in contemporary Poetics. The authors assume that chick lit presents a new type of a woman in postmodern literature - a wise woman. It is defined that lexical means and stylistic devices, such as metaphors, personifications, hyperboles, and rhetorical questions create the image of wise woman as the one who is aspiring to a career, realising herself not only in the area of family, but mainly in the area of professional life, and at the same time does not forget to take care of herself in the struggle of different duties. It is stressed that this image has not always meant an independent feminist woman, but has in fact undergone great transformations from a feminine stereotype of a devoted woman to a wise woman due to rapid changes that have taken place recently in women's lives.

The presented paper highlights the results of a study of the usage of different expressive means and stylistic devices for the description of Brexit as a political phenomenon in English newspaper texts. Our analysis has proved that a political discourse proliferates with the language means, which clearly realize opposition FOR – AGAINST Brexit. It has been proved that stylistic means employed in the media are determined by the conditions of communication. If the desire of the speaker is to rouse the audience and to keep it in suspense, he will use various tropes and figures of speech. Furthermore, stylistic means are closely interwoven and mutually complementary thus building up an intricate pattern. It is stressed that the sign of evaluation in the media may be conditioned by various sociocultural factors, among which are the specifics of the sociocultural space, type of publication, genre specificity of the text, individual features of communicants’ worldview. Accounting for these factors, contributes not only to a deep study of the stylistic phenomena, but also to effective communication and the creation of balanced journalistic texts, which, in its turn, will determine information and psychological comfort in society.
