To select a rehabilitation area of coral reefs in Pahat Island within Anambas Islands, this study was conducted to asses coral reefs condition using diver-towed or manta tow surveys and underwater photo transects (UPT). The results of the manta tow surveys showed coral cover dominated by hard corals percentage ranged between 11% and 50% (categories 2 and 3) in the western, northern and southern parts of Pahat Island. Distribution of hard coral percentage with more than 50% (Category 4: 51% - 75% and 5: 76% -100%) was observed in the eastern part of Pahat Island. While results from UPT showed the hard coral percentage of 62.5%, 33.67% and 17% in the eastern, western and northern of Pahat Island, respectively. There are similarities in the results of coral reef cover Obtained by the manta tow and UPT methods. Conclusions, this study recommends western Pahat Island as a good alternative for a rehabilitation site as the coral coverage was in poor condition.
Landscape design employment to Citarum watershed rehabilitation (case study in Bojongsoang Village, Bandung Regency and Purwadana Village, Karawang Regency). Citarum watershed in Karawang and Bandung Regencies is a prone flooding area. An ideal landscape planning is required to manage this watershed area. It should be a conservation area that can be used by the community in surrounding both for recreation purpose when there is no flood and as a pick up point purpose during the flood. This research aimed to create technical design for the rehabilitation effort of river in Purwadana Village, Karawang Regency and Bojongsoang Village, Bandung Regency. It is expected that it can be used as an alternative design that can make people more adaptive to flood disaster. The management of watershed can be used for conservation area and river tourism. This tourism aims to make people care to their environment, to grow their sense of belonging to jointly maintain and conserve the river around their livelihood. Methods used in this research were survey method, land suitability analysis, interview, and literature study. The research results showed that according to the ecological analysis and ideal landscape approach for watershed area, this Citarum Watershed area is suitable for tourism site.
This paper produces an integrated concept between mangrove rehabilitation efforts and educational tourismas an innovative solution for disaster mitigation in Sei Pakning from a landscape architecture perspective. The study location is in Pangkalan Jambi, where a "Mangrove Education Center (MEC) has been established. This study aims to design integrated landscape management by considering three existing interests: ecological protection, biodiversity conservation, and economic utilization. Through the stages of inventory, analysis, synthesis, conceptualization, and tourism planning based on local resources, the three interests in the utilization of mangrove forest areas are believed to be realized. The aspect of ecological protection is carried out by setting management boundaries. Aspects of biodiversity conservation are carried out through species enrichment by mangrove nurseries and environmental education to the public. In economic utilization, technical modifications for planting mangrove zones for saline tilapia cultivation are carried out with a silvofishery pattern. Another integrated aspect is mitigating coastal disasters by making "Hybrid Engineering" or modifying the structure of a simple Wave Breaker (APO). The institutional empowerment aspect is inseparable from the design so that the level of benefit for the community can be achieved. In conclusion, the landscape design of the Pangkalan Jambi mangrove forest can be used to manage the area sustainably because it combines many interests without disturbing each other.Keywords: coastal, disaster mitigation, integrated landscape management, landscape design, mangrove
