ABSTRACTThis activity begins with an initial assessment of the situation in the field. The gotu kola plant (Centella asiatica) is often used only as a ground cover. The initial assessment found that there was a lack of knowledge of the people of the Kauman village on the benefits of gotu kola, which was marked by the less than optimal processing of gotu kola in cosmetics and skin medicine. Taking into account the great potential of gotu kola in terms of health, this program aimed at providing education about the benefits of gotu kola, processing in making face mist as an antioxidant and moisturizing the skin of the elderly. The existence of empowerment of PKK members is expected to increase prevention efforts in overcoming skin problems when approaching the elderly. So the improvement of health status, especially regarding the skin when approaching the elderly, can be overcome by the use of gotu kola (Centella asiatica), which has benefits as an antioxidant and moisturizer in face mist preparations on the skin. With regard to the pandemic situation, the implementation is carried out online (online) using zoom media and evaluation is carried out using pre-test and post-test methods. The results of the post test carried out with an average value of 83 can answer the questions correctly when compared to the pre test where only the average value is 41. This shows that the knowledge of PKK members in Kauman Village, Malang City has increased after empowerment through community service activities. to this society. Keywords: gotu kola plant; face mist; PKK members; elderly.
Introduction: This Community Service Activity begins with an initial assessment of the situation in the field. The initial study found problems from the results of a preliminary study conducted by interviewing elderly people who experienced insomnia in Kauman Village, Malang City, as many as 10 elderly people who experienced insomnia. Objective: This community service activity aims to provide knowledge related to making aromatherapy candles. Method: The implementation of this activity begins with the process of evaluating the level of knowledge and attitudes of PKK cadres regarding the prevention stress and how to make of aromatherapy candles by conducting a pre-test using a questionnaire. Then, the team provided education about the prevention stress and how to make of aromatherapy candles by using appropriate media. This activity was carried out using the transfer & sharing method of knowledge by using aids of audiovisual media and leaflets, and practice of making aromatherapy candles. Besides being open for discussion sessions, questions, and answers related to aromatherapy candles. Result: The success of the PkM program can be seen from this. This can be seen from the average increase in understanding ability to 33.57%. The pretest average value of the 23 PkM participants was 65.2% and after participating in the PkM activities the understanding of the activity participants obtained the posttest average value of the 23 PkM participants was 98.3%. Then from the results of the evaluation of the skills of the participants, a value of 86.67 was obtained and could be categorized as skilled. Conclusion: We concluded that providing education related to how to make aromatherapy candles could increase people's knowledge and attitudes.
Mangrove plants are known to produce various secondary metabolites (SMs) such as polyisoprenoids (dolichol and polyprenol), emodin, and luteolin to show anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antibacterial activities. This study aimed to predict the multiple activities of the SMs of mangroves based on several enzymes that utilize the in silico method. The properties of absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity for emodin, luteolin, polyprenol C80, dolichol-17 (C85), and dolichol-20 (C100) displayed variation. Prediction for Lipinski's rule showed that emodin and luteolin have lower molecular weight than polyprenol C80, dolichol C85, and dolichol C100. Emodin and luteolin were further docked with cyclooxygenase-2, beta-lactamase, CYP450-dependent 14-alpha demethylase, 3C-like protease, and P-glycoprotein as protein targets using the Molegro Virtual Docker Ver.5.5 approach. In comparison to celecoxib, ketoconazole, clavulanic acid, remdesivir, and verapamil, emodin and luteolin had higher rerank scores. The quantitative structure-property relationships depicted that the electronic parameter, highest occupied molecular orbital (E HOMO ), was the physical chemistry parameter that influenced the total clearance. The present findings emphasized that emodin and luteolin from the SMs of mangroves have multiple activities as potent inhibitors of cancer cells and bacterial infections.
Anthranilamide derivatives exhibit anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, antibacterial, antiangiogenic, and anticoagulant properties. With an early in silico examination of its analgesic capabilities, this study aimed to generate a novel anthranilamide molecule by altering 2-Benzamido-N-Benzylbenzamide. Modification of anthranilamide with 1/2/3-chloro benzoyl chloride by acylation resulted in the design, synthesis, characterization, and research of the analgesic effects of 2-benzamido-N-benzoylbenzamide derivatives. 2-(2-chlorobenzamido)-N-(2-chlorobenzoyl)benzamide, 2-(3-chlorobenzamido)-N-(3-chlorobenzoyl)benzamide, and 2-(4-chlorobenzamido)-N-(4-chlorobenzoyl)benzamide were prepared. The nucleophilic acyl substitution reaction method was used to prepare these three chemicals by interaction with anthranylamide and benzoyl chloride molecules. Melting point and thin-layer chromatography were used to check the purity of the synthesis fi ndings. The structure was confi rmed by UV-Vis and infrared spectrophotometry.
