In this work the synthesis and physical properties of composite Si-B nanoparticles are described. Boron-silicon-containing nanoparticles were obtained with the laser-induced pyrolysis of a silane and boron trichloride mixture under cw CO 2 -laser irradiation. The particles are heterogeneous in their composition structure: particles consisting of both the crystalline and amorphous phases. The size of the crystalline silicon phase depends on the gas flows' ratio and at the equal point P(SiH 4 ):P(BCl 3 ) = 1:1 the crystalline core has almost disappeared. The possible pyrolysis reaction mechanism was proposed on the basis of the FTIR and TEM data.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
