Abstract. Personal stability in signing in one of the key factors for highaccuracy signature verification. In this paper the local stability of a dynamic signature is measured. The acccuracy of an on-line signature verification system is improved by selecting, among a set of specimens available, the subset of reference signatures which is near-optimal for different signature representation domains in terms of impostor-acceptance error rate.
The occurrence of the international financial crisis and the spread out of its effects on the global economy prompted experts around the world to think about how to manage the crisis and which measures to implement in order to restore normal economic and financial conditions. In this paper, we present and discuss the results of an international expert survey. We use these experts' perceptions to pursue a twofold target to understand their perceptions about the causes of the crisis, and of the policies to solve it. Interestingly, experts seem to broadly concur on what caused the crisis but their perceptions diverge regarding the policies. Furthermore, substantial differences in perceptions emerge between the Euro Area and the United States. We also find that the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank monetary policies during the crisis are judged barely adequate. Finally, different views distinguish academicians from other experts.(J.E.L.: G01).
Since 2010, some European countries have been going through a difficult period of economic and financial fragility. The aim of this paper is to review the main causes of European financial instability. Since the analysis reflects an important interconnection between public debt and banking stability, we empirically investigate this interaction through a Granger causality analysis. Testing the possible existence of Granger causal relationships between sovereign debt and banking stability allows us to identify countries in which a sovereign crisis caused a banking crisis and vice versa. Finally, we describe possible solutions in order to exit from the crisis and the economic policy implications.
