We report a rare case of combined supra- and infracardiac type of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (mixed-type TAPVC) in a 26-day-old low birth weight (1.9 kg) infant who was admitted with respiratory distress. The child underwent successful surgical repair using a novel surgical technique and is doing well at one year follow-up.
Organicintra-orbital foreign bodies pose a diagnostic and management challenge to ophthalmologists. There can be grave complications associated with their retention. The presence of an intra-orbital mass with a discharging sinus should evoke suspicion of a retained organic foreign body, regardless of the time interval between the trauma and current presentation. Spontaneous extrusion of foreign body is rare. We present a case of a child with intraorbital wooden foreign body which was missed even after thorough exploration of orbit and which spontaneously extruded after a period of three weeks.
