In this paper, a visible light communication (VLC) in the indoor environment based on MIMO system is investigated and analyzed. An attempt is made to optimize the placement of light emitting diodes (LED) VLC emitter in ൈ MIMO configuration at ceiling and ground floor for the receiver to obtain uniform signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for the desired bit error rate (BER) in the given area. The system is also optimized for the necessary power transmission from LED emitters for the maximum data rate. Two channel coding techniques repetition code (RC) and spatial modulation (SM) are analyzed and their BER and data rate performance results are presented for different receiver spacing moving in the entire area. The result shows that RC gives almost constant SNR whereas SM offers better SNR ratio for more spacing between receivers. In the case of SM, only one transmitter will transmit at a time. So the SNR value will be very low at other corner of the room.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
