Backgrounds: The problem of insufficient breast milk production causes stress for mothers and hinders exclusive breastfeeding programs. This study aims to see how breastfeeding mothers can produce breast milk when they consume date extract and are given oxytocin massage. Methods: This study used an experimental research design (posttest with control group design), with a purposive sampling technique, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the inclusion criteria were drawn for grouping. The control group was breastfeeding mothers given oxytocin massage only, while the treatment group was breastfeeding mothers given oxytocin massage and date palm extract simultaneously. Each group consisted of 20 samples. The measurement of breast milk volume was conducted on day 7th and day 14th of postpartum. Results: The results showed that there was no significant difference on the 7th day of measurement in all groups, while on the 14th day of measurement there was a significant difference in breast milk production in the group of mothers who were given date palm extract and oxytocin massage simultaneously, with a p-value of 0.000. Conclusion: Date palm extract and oxytocin massage were very effective when given simultaneously to breastfeeding mothers in increasing milk production, so it was a good solution for breastfeeding mothers.
Pendahuluan: Angka Kematian Ibu (AKI) masih menjadi pekerjaan rumah yang besar di Indonesia, apalagi di masa Covid-19 ini. Jumlah kematian ibu di Indonesia saat masa pandemi Covid-19 tahun 2020 sebanyak 4.627 kematian, meningkat dari tahun 2019 sebanyak 4.221 kematian. Sedangkan di Sumatera Selatan, jumlah kematian tahun 2020 sebesar 128 kematian meningkat dibandingkan 2019 sebesar 105 kematian, menempati peringkat 10 di Indonesia (Kementerian Kesehatan RI, 2021)Penyebab kematian ibu di Indonesia tahun 2020, secara berurutan: perdarahan, hipertensi, gangguan peredaran darah. (Kementerian Kesehatan RI, 2021). Pemerintah berupaya menekan penyebab AKI ini dengan upaya deteksi dini resiko saat hamil, bersalin, dan nifas melalui buku Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak (KIA), wanita usia subur yang mengalami fase-fase ini dan keluarganya dapat membaca buku ini, untuk dapat mengenali gejala komplikasi pada fase-fase ini.Tujuan: Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat yang dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Karang Dalo Pagaralam tahun 2021, yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan wanita usia subur tentang gejala-gejala awal tanda kelainan dan komplikasi di masa kehamilan, persalinan, dan nifas walaupun belum atau telah melewati fase-fase ini,sehingga dapat menjadi kepedulian yang massif di tengah masyarakat Karang Dalo Pagaralam Sumatera Selatan.Metode: Metode kegiatan dengan pemberian edukasi, yang sebelumnya diawali dengan pendataan data sasaran, dan masalah kesehatan yang ada di masyarakat.Hasil: Diperoleh hasil rerata pengetahuan wanita usia subur setelah kegiatan 80, sedangkan rerata sebelum kegiatan 50, dan jumlah peserta yang berpengetahuan baik setelah kegiatan sebanyak 93,3%, sedangkan yang berpengetahuan baik sebelum kegiatan hanya 33,3%.Kesimpulan: Pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat berjalan lancer, kegiatan edukasi tentang deteksi dini komplikasi kehamilan, persalinan, dan nifas pada wanita usia subur dengan memperhatikan protokol kesehatan di masa Covid-19 berjalan lancer sesuai dengan perecananaan Kata kunci : Edukasi, deteksi dini, kehamilan, persalinan, nifas ABSTRACT Introduction: The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is still a big homework in Indonesia, especially during this Covid-19 period. The government is trying to suppress the causes of AKI by means of early detection of risks during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum through the book on Maternal and Child Health (KIA), women of childbearing age who experience these phases and their families can read this book, to be able to recognize the symptoms of complications in pregnancy. these phases.Purpose Community Service Activities carried out in Karang Dalo Pagaralam Village in 2021, which aims to increase the knowledge of women of childbearing age about the early symptoms of signs of abnormalities and complications during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum even though they have not or have passed these phases, so that they can become a massive concern among the people of Karang Dalo Pagaralam, South Sumatra.Method: The activity method is by providing education, which previously started with data collection on targets, and health problems that exist in the community.Results: The average knowledge of women of childbearing age after the activity was 80, while the average before the activity was 50, and the number of participants who had good knowledge after the activity was 93.3%, while those with good knowledge before the activity were only 33.3%.Conclusion: The implementation of community service went smoothly, educational activities about early detection of complications of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum in women of childbearing age by paying attention to health protocols during the Covid-19 period went smoothly according to the plan.Keywords: Education, early detection, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum
