Synthetic polymer polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) was utilised as a blend with hydrogel and natural plant leaf extract Ormocarpum cochinchinense (OC). Its biodegradability and biocompatibility, have received more attention with regard to the wound dressing applications. In the present work synthesized bio composite film containing Ormocarpum cochinchinense (OC), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) was characterized using Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), Field emission Scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis. Swelling studies and antimicrobial activities were also carried out to ascertain the credibility of the blended mixture. As a result, they offer a promising source of information for studies on wound dressings.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
